HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL EXAMINATION:
WHEN YOUR DENTIST LOOKS AT YOUR TEETH, HE ALSO CHECKS THE FOLLOWING:
- Soft tissue check
- Jaw joint (TMJ)
- Oral hygiene check which includes your teeth, gums, tooth decay, tooth shade
- Any cracks in the teeth
- Old fillings and their condition

REVIEW OF PAST DENTAL CARE AND CURRENT STATUS

DIGITAL X-RAYS
These x-rays help the dentist detect any tooth decay, bone loss as well as numerous other issues. X-rays will also help us chart your current tooth and root positions.
A DENTAL EVALUATION
This is when your dentist checks the health of your teeth including any previous restorative dental work like fillings, crowns, implants, bridges etc.
SCREENING OF GUM DISEASE
Your dentist will evaluate the health of your gums. He will look for any signs of periodontal disease, gum recession and will check pocket depths with a dental instrument.
INTRAORAL AND EXTRAORAL PHOTOS
We will take intraoral photos to keep record of finding and show you the condition of your teeth. Extraoral pictures are great to see before and after, after various dental treatments like, teeth whitening, veneers and other cosmetic dental work.
DOCUMENTATION OF CLINICAL FINDINGS
Your dentist will record all the findings including past work, any work required, oral hygiene instructions and frequency of your visits.
FORMULATION OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLAN
If you require any work, your dentist will make a treatment plan explaining treatment options, number of visits and cost. You will be provided with the copy of plan as required.
